16 things from 2016

1. Measurement of success is completely subjective. Measure your personal successes by comparing to what you know you’re capable of, not what others consider success.

2. As long as you put yourself out there and be 100% yourself from the beginning, making genuine new friends are not that hard.

3. Just be straight up with your feelings with people. Friends, family, whoever. Stop worrying about what they’re thinking. If you get rejected at least now you know, and you can’t say you didn’t try.

4. Everyone’s so caught up with themselves and they’re life. It doesn’t mean they forgot about you or don’t care about you. Solve that by being the one to reach out. Don’t wait for them.

5. No, you really can’t get any work done when you’re off your meds. Stop kidding yourself.

6. Company and friend groups are very nice, but being on your own isn’t the end of the world. Don’t skip meals just because you can’t find any friends to eat with.

7. So what if other people don’t like it? If you think it’s cool and enjoy it then fuck ‘em. (Unless it’s some messed up shit like murder or something)

8. When someone doesn’t like you simply because of who you are there is little you can do to change their opinion,. Don’t worry too much about them. They don’t deserve your time anyway.

9. Everyone gets homesick. Get involved in groups and activities to get your mind off of it. Sitting in your room facetiming your family back home definitely does not help.

10. Sometimes a good cry is nice, and much needed. Stop holding it all in.

11. Don’t hesitate to ask for help. Being vulnerable to someone sucks but is necessary to learn and grow.

12. Just because you’ve had terrible, toxic relationships in the past does not mean that you’re unworthy of love and commitment.

13. If you don’t stand up for yourself, most of the time, no one else will.

14. A whole day can easily accidentally be wasted on Netflix. So if you have shit to do, don’t even think about clicking play.

15. Exercise and hydration effect your health a lot more than you think. So stay hydrated! Exercise more! Make healthy choices for your body and your body will repay you.

16. Make a fool out of yourself. Step out of your comfort zone (in big or small ways) at least once a week. Break the rules a little here and there. Gain experiences that you can cherish for a lifetime.
